Blue Ivory or vivianite ivory is an extremely rare form of ivory. Only 2% of all ivory will ever turn this color. The reason for this is because the fossilized ivory is penetrated by the mineral vivianite, changing the color of the ivory. This walrus tusk can be dated back to about 10,000 years old.

This ivory from Alaska is at least 10,000 years old and could just as easily be 50,000 years old. It is only slightly harder than elephant ivory.

Alaska holds the last legal forms of ivory in the world: fossilized woolly mammoth and walrus. We do not carry elephant, hippopotamus, rhino, whale, or other forms of ivory, which are illegal. We only sell ivory that has been harvested and collected never hunted. Our mammoth and walrus ivory comes with certification paperwork and is completely worry free.
